Thanks to the advert at the top of the s2ki site i've just found my own answer... however my original description is wrong.

Even so, be wrong not to buy one in a few months!

some of the "ebay" lower x-braces are identical to the comptech and go for $50 shipped and are just as light and strong. the welds are all top notch and so is the finish. can't beat them for the money, only downside is they aren't brand name.

You say "some." Would you be willing to be more specific about which of the inexpensive Comptech knock offs have top notch chromoly, welds, and tolerances? It'd be helpful.

exact one i bought but the price went up:

it comes with washers to space it further from the oil pan, i forgot to put them in at first and it still wouldn't hit the oil pan but they space it like a good 2 mm extra.
