VAFC will tune fuel and vtec engagement... Thats where majority of the power tuning these cars comes from...

There are very minor gains playing with the timing so spending significantly more isn't justified. What's keeping me from buying a vafc is the inability to raise the rev limiter.. I know there are gains and its nice to have another 500rpms to my powerband. Is it worth the difference in money for my 06 ap2, not sure...

For you since you can't go with flash pro i would 100% get a vafc and a wideband.. Its simple enough where you don't need to hire a tuner to set it up for you and you'll have a ton of fun doing it.

Cheers!

Any of you guys running VAFCII to tune have issues with the vehicle running very lean at WOT with I/H/E?
Sounds to me like you need to do some adjusting... Its a fuel controller, add some fuel =-)
VAFCII doesnt add fuel EVER, so ^^^ is impossible

Really!?!? Learn something new everyday..

So all you can do is lean out the car =/

I think the vafc can richen but not at wot (lose timing too tho). It works by altering the map sensor signal (load) which in turn reads a lower or higher fuel injection pulse on the fuel map (closed loop) at a certain rpm. When it is at the 'top of the table' on an NA car it can only read zero gauge pressure or no vacuum/boost that is the limit that is prettty much the max injection pulse written in stone on the stock ecu. I don't think the ecu knows what to do with positive pressure (boost) after a certain amount it will stop interpolating the top line of the fuel map and quit.

The bandaid solution is to get a fpr for $50. You can raise fuel pressure to richen things up on top end (closed loop). Open loop will be learned away by the stock ecu so the fpr AND vafc have no effect open loop to a certain degree.

From there you can lean things out (up to the limit of the timing affected by the vafc). Vafc cannot adjust timing independently of fuel.

It can NOT richen anything at all, it is used to lean out for power...the only way you can add fuel is via fuel pressure regulator(adjustable)

I JUST got my car back from having kpro installed in my MY04, and on a mustang dyno they got 199whp. I have an intake and a single exhaust with testpipe. They lowered my Vtech t0 4400, and raised my redline to 8700. I have only driven the car once since I got it back but it felt sweet! definately more power than before. It was $1650, plus sensors and a new valve cover total was $2000.00 plus 3hrs of tuning. I went with the Kpro so I could still get my car to pass emissions, as we use OBDII here in Oregon

Anybody have experience with the Boomslang plug n play harness for the VAFC? Anybody know of an alternate harness supplier?

Nothing against hondata, but my aem series 2 costed under 1600 with wideband (installed for me too), and basemap made from scratch/tuned by one of the premier tuners all inclusive...could've done it myself, but package deal saved me some time.

Frog makes a harness for vafc. Pretty sure you can hack up an aem extension harness too for cheaper.
