My Gernby FlashPro tune took (IIRC) three 2-hour driving sessions capturing data and emailing to Greg. Actual driving was mere minutes but finding a clear stretch of road and plugging different calibrations into the ECU is what took up the time.
Very nice thing about this type tune is it's under real conditions with the complete car on the road, not just the rear wheels on the dyno. Factors such as weight in the car and wind resistance factor in. It's not just maximum power number to impress your buddies at cars and coffee or on the web. It's where the usable power is available -- the area under the curve not just the peak where the engine only runs for seconds.
I really cannot see where any better tuning can be done on a dyno in less than many hours on the device.
