I don't have a test pipe (stock exhaust/cat) and STILL get tons of soot/"black stuff" all over the rear of my car. So, I gotta question whether this is a problem with the cat or just a "trait" of the car (I'll go with the latter).
pretty simple every 25 miles your burning a gallon of gas and that's being sent out the exhaust pipe a single cat can only treat so much waste.

A lot of the poblems with the soot is that aftermark exhausts and test pipes for some reason are about an inch shorter than oem and doesnt exit the rear bumper as far causing buildup.
Hmmm must look into that one.....

That's how it is on my Mugen with TP. The TP was about an inch shorter than cat.

Huh? I've owned plenty of cars that have only 1 cat, and don't have problems with soot on the rear bumper. I wish it were "pretty simple."

OIC so you've had plenty of s2000's or plenty of other cars making 1/2 as much power stock - kinda big difference there guy. The 2.0L also tends to burn oil a bit as well.

I really can't understand what you're saying. My guess is that the s2k just tends to run a little rich. The single cat isn't the issue, as the soot collects on the rear of my car if I'm just putzing around town. Btw, I have the 2.2, and it doesn't burn ANY oil.

Its about the same cruising. The only difference is during heavy throttle application. I can still carry on a conversation in the car, and everyone has complemented on how it sounds. You won't go wrong with it.

I did a dyno when I changed the stock exhaust for the Mugen AP2, same day, same dyno and went from 199.4 to 204.7 uncorrected on a Dynodynamics.

I have a TP and i didn't notice anything except i had a place to put my aftermarket wideband... I couldn't feel any power gain, hear any noise difference, or smell anything..

In my opinion if you don't need a spot for a wideband O2 sensor and your not trying to turn the car anorexic then why bother..
