2014 S2k Challenge rules discussion
What about for Street class:
1. No aftermarket aero
2. CR aero allowed, but limited to 235 front tire (235 vs 255 is currently a 0.5 pt gap, which is equivalent to the CR wing -- I tend to believe the CR lip is overvalued at 0.25 so I don't think that's a big deal).
That keeps Street class looking more stock, and should make the class more accessible without needing to have a wing. It also allows CR owners to still arrive and drive. GTC200 is plenty competitive in Mod class, so hardly leaving those owners out in the cold if they decide to keep them. Otherwise I would consider bumping Level 2 wings up in points, at least for Street class (perhaps 1.75 is more accurate?).
Also, the current coilover points based on Buttonwillow cause the gap to be too big between 1 and 1.5 pt coilovers imo, since it is the track where suspension really makes the biggest difference. Other tracks (Chuckwalla, ACS, etc.) it matters a lot less.
Make wheel width go up 0.125 per 0.5" with no cap, rather than the current table (I think Ameer mentioned that earlier, so that the x.5" wheels are in between).

Also, while I agree that street class is currently too much like mod, we should still keep some separation between stock and street.
I like the idea of no R-comps or aftermarket aero in street,
No aero at all and no front tires over 225 in stock, and maybe letting supermod cars that are NA be 50lbs less than
FI cars.
The thought of a wing/no-wing class separation intrigues me, although it makes it a bit difficult for me to participate if I have to also remove my front lip. Removing the CR wing is just a matter of 3 bolts, and I'll gladly take it off in the name of more fun
Nick, if you ever make it out here, I'm sure you won't have a problem finding a car to co-drive

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIeBcMGi4bU&hd=1Hey Nick. What have you been up to since GT academy 2012?
Haha just having fun, had a great year in SCCA Solo winning the Pro-Solo Championship, doing some Lemons racing, Track Days in New England and some carting. The highlight of my year on track was doing a test with TRG in two of their new Aston Martin racecars, one set up for Continental Tire and Pirelli World Challenge (Conventional 6 Speed H Pattern, minimal aero), the other for Rolex series (Sequential Paddle Shifters and More Aero.) I got to enjoy a 170+mph braking zone at the end of 3/4 mile straight at Monticello all afternoon. That was a BLAST.
Depending on availability Voltex 1S or if I cant get one for like 6 months, the new style GTC-200

Winged street class or no? I Gotta know if I should order my wing or not

I was under the impression there was a line around the block to take that for a ride.
I don't have a problem if the decision is made to go wingless in Street class.
However, per one of the rules discussions that I was at, I remember Aaron saying that he liked wings since he felt it made the car "safer" in that they were more predictable. I believe there was even discussion about the GTC-200 being 1.00 or 1.25 points to encourage people to add a wing for track use.
As for the true value of the wing, well, this is my data.
Stock class car at 0.375 points
-OEM hardtop - 0.125
-Test pipe - 0.25
BW CW13 - 2:10.xxx
CVR - 2:13.xxx
Street Class car at 2.5 points
-OEM hard top - 0.125
-HFC - 0.125
-17x9 square - 0.5
-255 square - .75
-GTC-200 - 1.5
-OEM springs and shocks - 0
Lap times:
BW CW13 - 2:06.xxx
CVR - 2:07.xxx
My street class car got a nice cut in lap times compared to my 2.5 points. For a less skilled driver, I would say that the wing is easily worth more than the 1.5 points assigned to it. However, for a more skilled driver maxing out the stock setup, I think the street points are fairly valued.

Stock Class times:
BW CW13 - 2:06.xxx
CVR - 2:06.xxx
Street Class times
BW CW 13 - 2:01.xxx
CVR -2:01.xxx or 2:02.xxx???
His lap times and mods more accurately support the valuation of the wings/parts for Street class.
As for this season, i'm surprised no one in the wingless crowd tried out this setup for Street
-1.00 = SA coilovers
-0.75 = 255 fronts
-0.75 = 17x9 with 17x10 Stagger
-1.25 = NT-01
-0.25 = Testpipe
-4.00 = Total
That looks like it would be a would be a fast competitive setup that could compete with the winged crowd.
As for the season, winged setups pretty much dominated street; however, I wonder how my proposed setup might fair in the hands of a capable driver.
Anyway, assuming I find (or make) time, I'm down to show up and possibly cater my car to points/rules - although I'm pretty sure i'm a guaranteed no-show for the season opener next year if it's the usual last weekend of January.
