Default 240sx Good for Racing?

Sup guys...

I'm not sure if this should be posted here or the car talk section, but here it goes. If it needs to be moved, please do so.

I'm going to be acquiring a '93 240sx fastback from a friend of mine for only $500. The car is in perfect condition. I was originally going to use this as a daily beater, but am now starting to wonder if it should become a project car. What are your opinions on this? Is the fastback version better on the track/autocross, or the coupe version? Or is this car only good for drifting?

If it does become a race car, then I will be dropping a SR20DET engine in it, and modifying it. So power will be no problem. Suspension upgrades will also be added.

Please post your input, any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

There's a 240SX with HICAS (?) 4WS that has run DSP for several years. It's not the most competitive car, even with a good driver. It may be simply lack of power which you're addressing. Having never driven the car I can't speak to its strengths/weaknesses. I suspect power is the main issue...
