That link isn't really up to date anymore.

Personally, I say got with 245/45/16 front and rear.

With the bigger front bar, the 245 setup will help the car rotate better on lower speed sections.

Haven't tried the 245 V710's with 265 rears so I can't say how those will work, but I am really happy with the 245 A6's.

Last year's runner up AP1 car was on 245 A6's all the way around on stock wheels and a "dump" exhaust and the Grendron hollow bar.
The 2007 winning AP1 car was fully prepped on 245 A6's all around.

The theory is that you need the big front bar to keep the wheel lift on check. When you have sticky sticky front tires, and the soft front springs on the S, you will get rear wheel lift like those VW's. Since the S is rwd, the wheel off the ground will turn the car's HLSD to work as an open diff and you end up sending power to the wheel with the least resistence (ie wheel in the air) which in turn slows you down.

Since the bigger bar will also make the car more prone to understeer, having a staggered tire setup will make the understeer worse on the AP1. I'm not too familar with the AP2, so someone else can chime in on this.
Another thing you can do for setup is change your alignment settings, taking away some of the rear toe-in to help initial turn in. This will make the car rotate better on lower speed stuff, but you might sacrifice higher speed stability with this set up.

I've tried both setups with V710's 245/265 and 245/245 and the non-staggered is faster for me as SumAznGuy mentioned it is mostly because in the lower speed stuff the car can rotate instead of plow like it always seemed to do before.

Trail braking is more noticeable now.

Switch to a 1.375 hollow was about 2 years ago.
This year, a few guys including me (not that I am fast or anything) jumped ship to the 1.5 hollow ARE bar.
