Default 245 R's on AP1 front?

I'm not going to nationals but this is for local use. Has anyone tried using a 245 tire on the 6.5 inch stock AP1 rims?
I like the added grip of a wider rear tire, and I would like to increase the grip of the front with a wider tire.
I am running a 265/45/16 V710 in the rear and I was thinking of a 245/45/16 V70a in the front, though I know most people use the 225/50/16 V710 in the front, if they are not using the A6's.

Thanks.

I have no personal experience with the 245s up front. I've seen others run it, so I know it will fit.

Ideally, I would like to set my car up with a little understeer but I do not want to accomplish this by giving up total grip, ie I want to keep the 265 tires in the back.
I have Koni yellows, Saner front sway bar which I will set to full stiff, and the recommended autoX alignment but with only 5.6 caster on MY02 A/S S2000.

A 225 V710 is going to provide more grip than a 245 V70a.

Your problem statement is confusing. You say that you want to set up the car with some understeer, but then you say you want more front grip. Which is it? Have you tried alignment or sway bar adjustments?

More tire in the front is going to induce oversteer. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, but my car turns like the front is on rails with the 225 front, 265 rear. I very seldom have any understeer issues. Typically I battle entry oversteer on high speed turns. (I think I'm guilty of braking too deep, trying to maintain momentum as required during my X1/9 days.)

What have you set your Koni's too? What tire pressures are you running and how is it wearing the tires? I would ask these questions before buying new tires.

245 is an awefully wide tire to be running on a 6.5" rim. Nowhere close to tire manufacturers recommended rim width. No personal experience but everything I've read points to this not being very safe.

I am just not confortable with the amount of oversteer I my car has, which I know is an issue with the S.
I ran an event this weekend and this was with the stock sway bars and shocks. For the salom, the car understeered a little, but for the most part I could stay on the throttle. The salom was spaced 24-26 paces and it was a 7 cone salom.
For the sweeper, I found the car to push quite a bit because of the lack of front end grip. I tried to get on the gas earlier but then the inside wheel lifted and I was going nowhere until the car settle enough to get traction again.

I guess I will stick with the 225 V710's. Thanks.

You need a bigger front swaybar. The understeer you experienced is driving-style induced.
