Default 255's all around, understeer/oversteer

I ordered the 17x9's so that I may run 255's on all 4 corners. I plan to use nitto N-01's. I expect the car will wnat to oversteer big time, my question- Can I dial this in to neutral with an adjustable coilover set up like kw-v3's or will I need to put on a new front sway bar also?

I would try it out first before buying anything else. Everyone on here seems to have different opinions and experiences.

sway bar, alignment, tires pressure will be more effective at dialing out oversteer. removing the rear way bar does help but i don't like increased body roll.

IMO adjusting coil rates, damp, rebound ect, are the things you do LAST.

Start with Tirepressure, then move to swaybars. You may even find that removing the rear sway works best. I cant imagine 255f on N-01s lol

I did an auto-x with my completely stock MY06 with 17x9 with 255s on all 4 corners and the car was almost perfectly balanced. Optimized?... no. Balanced, yes.

I disagree.

Tire pressure and sway bar adjustments are fine tuning methods, at least when you are free to adjust the rest of your suspension as necessary.

What are you trying to accomplish? Racing in a certain class? Street driving?

On my AP1 with OEM suspension, I found that the car had a slight tendency to oversteer at the limit, which was more pronounced in quick transitions. The car would still understeer in tight corners. The car was more fun to drive because the car would rotate much better. I think I could be a bit faster overall if the car had a big front sway bar, though. I noticed that AP2's tend to understeer a lot more than AP1's (stock for stock), so I think you might like the balance.

Also, I agree with others that you start with coilovers, then use sway bars for fine tuning. Using camber and tire pressures to change balance is more of a salvage mechanism, to be used as a last resort. You always want to optimize camber and tire pressures to get the most out of your tire.

I'm running 255's all around on V3's. I couldn't dial out the oversteer with compression/rebound settings and alignment alone. I did not want to take off my rear bar because I primarily track the car. I put a Saner bar up front, and it is really well balanced now.

If you are looking to buy a set of coilovers in the price range of V3's, Id try the HKS Hypermax III's. They come with 13k springs up front and 11k rear. They seem to already be tuned to run a non-staggered setup. The KW's come with the same spring rates front and rear.

KW's were designed for a staggered suspension setup. Going 255/255 makes for a MUCH LARGER front tire which creates an oversteer imbalance. Like Wynn said, this can be improved by adding a big front swaybar to dial out some of that oversteer, and having less front camber than rear will also improve this balance.

If you plan on going with a wing later down the line, the KW V3s work very well with a big front bar and a wing with a 255/255 non-staggered setup.
