I am using a check valve since I am tapped into a Canton external filter loop. Check valve in that case is the only way to prevent 'sump oil pressurizing the oil pump.

If you are using a sandwich adapter, the oil filter has that antidrainback valve in it.

It is important to use a quality filter like a Canton/Mecca to preserve the Accusump's piston to cylinder seal.

Additionally, as Al said, we can just switch it off until we get out on the track. Once running, there will be little idling.
Now I have to remember to flip switches on and off too??? Are you geting a 2-way radio so you can remind me?

I may not have to remember to switch off the switch after preoiling, as the pressure I chose might be at or below hot oil idle pressure.

Keep in mind the pressure switch on the electric valve is adjustable. Canton has placed a dab of paint over the adjusting screw, but it comes off easy. I'll be experimenting with mine once I get it plumb in.

Any pictures of your install?

fperra, cool about the adjustability. I asked Kyle and he said his digital camera is broken. .

I don't run the check valve. As I understand (per davepk) our oil pump already stops the flow from backflowing.

But I've never confirmed that.

I'd double check that... Dave told me to go ahead and buy the check valve, and we're installing it. It might just be for added safety. (We're also running an external oil filter, but then, so are you.)
