He didn't say it wouldn't throw a CEL.

I apologize...been a long weekend, and I was quick-skimming the thread.

Good news everyone!
After many many hours and iterations (aha some of you thought I let this go) and with the help of an NI DAQ, Labview, Matlab, and PSpice it seems I've engineered a working simulator. This pump system is clever in how it checks for the correct airflow and consequently the circuit is not simple.

With this simulator, the entire secondary air injection system can be removed (pump, relay, VAC system, hoses, current sensor, and harness). I've already tested it quite a few times in various situations and I've checked the readiness codes for emissions. No CEL and secondary air injection system is "ready". This simulator is nothing like the air pump simulator by "Challenge".

Right now the simulator is a rough prototype, if future tests/scenarios go as planned (i.e. no CEL) then a final version will be made. When the final version is made ideally I want two other USDM S owners to test the simulator, one with an AP1 and the other with an 04'-05' AP2.

So far its working as it should. Just finished building the final version and its quite small (thanks to micro electronics!). I really doubt they'll be any issues given the way this simulator works.

Again this simulator is nothing like the Challenge kit. The ECU works exactly as it should (i.e. it doesn't keep the ECU on regardless of key position).

Awesome! Where can we order one? If you don't have one already, I'll be your USDM tester. Also, can you figure out a way to trick the second O2 sensor (the one that goes into the cat)? I would like to simply unplug it altogether and plug it with a shallow bolt.

That is great - thanks for putting in all the effort!

I'd be happy to test one for you on my AP2...if you can wait till March that is (Car's in storage 300 miles away).

So, are you planning to make and sell these? If not, might you be willing to share a schematic, eh, eh?

I see you are in MD, so I am. I can be an AP1 tester once it gets a little warmer out if you want someone local.
