Default Alignment off?

After the last track event my steering wheel is now off-center, definitely more than it was before the event (it was straight), but the car still tracks straight on a flat road and toe measurement is still zero. Any explanation?...and should I get an alignment done anyway?

If the spline on the steering linkage was not tight the wheel can be pulled off center without affecting alignment. This is a fairly common problem after transmission removal because the mechanic fails to tighten everything on reassembly. I would center the wheel by getting it on the correct spline and tighten it down to see how it does before fooling with alignment.

How does one go about doing that? I mean if I wanted to do this myself. Can you advise at all on what's involved.

thanks

You know what I did to mine at SOW 3 weeks ago. I had the car aligned this week, money well spent. It was all kinds of ed up even though the toe was OK (Brian and his crew fixed it for me at the track...they were pretty damn close according to my alignment guy ).
