The entire rear or front needs to be up I've done it before and it was that problem. I can do an entire swap in 3 hours

Does no one just undo the lower ball joint, and sway bar link to lower the lower control arm? I find swapping suspension on this car to be the easiest car i have ever done.

not everyone has a ball joint tool. so thats why its suggested to take off the Upper control arm off instead.

Takes me all day and a six pack of beer.
Agree with wood block. I usually put the car on stands (2-post lift now that I have one) and use the floor jack under the ball joint. I bought a bunch of used hockey pucks that are strewn all over the garage. They work too.

Bottle jack on upper a-arm with a block of wood against the wheel well. Easy one man job.
If you don't have a bottle jack the factory jack works too.
I'm so glad this thread popped up. These posts saved the day on Sunday when I removed the rear shocks

I have to do mine in the coming weeks but I'm having trouble visualizing this. Will it be obvious once I'm in there? Any recommendations on the size of the block of wood?

I used the factory jack and used two- 2" on top and one 1" thick on bottom so the jack could reach both points (even though they're called 2" they're really about 1.5"). I suppose with a bottle jack you could use just one about 2-4" thick on top. The base is stable enough for the bottom. I just used one on the bottom so the jack could reach. The block should be short and narrow, about 5"Lx5"Wx2"H [Edit = inches].
