Default Autox Alignment....once again

I have been looking at alignments on this forum. I am about to do mine and I am looking for opinions with people close to the setup I have.

My setup:
225/245 Kumho Victorracer
Koni Adjustables
Comptech Adjustble swaybar

I have heard there is a different alignment with race rubber....anyone have any comments? I am going to get aligned by a race mechanic with me in the car.

a related question:

Does is matter which wheels are on the car when the alignment is done? ie. can I drive to the shop on the SO-2's for the alignment or do I have to make adjustments with the Kumho's on the car? It seems as though it shouldn't matter, but I couldn't find any reference to it in a search.

thanks!

I don't think it should matter. I run stock wheels with my autox tires and that is where it is being measured.

hmm regarding alignment with different tires. I really dont think it should matter at all. The horizontal surface - the road - will still be the same. X (camber) Y (caster) and Z (toe) - at least what I'm referring to it as - will still be the same regardless of the tires. Different wheels, I'm sure they will cause the car to sit differently, causing a heavier or lighter load on the car. But different tires, I think the weight of them will be slim to negligible.

I recently had my car aligned and the technician was kind enough to show me how it was done. He was using a new Hunter rack that uses lasers to measure the alignemnt parameters! I noticed that the laser reflectors were attached to the rim. This leads me to think that unless the tire is worn very unevenly, it will not have a large effect on the car's alignment.

Thanks for all the input so far. I guess a better way to solve the dispute is to ask our resident experts that are happy with their "race" settings if they did their alignments with SO-2's or race rubber on the wheels? I am eagerly awaiting next weekend when I can pull the car our of hibernation, and this alignment is #1 on the agenda, hopefully closely followed by a sway bar.......

again, many thanks.
