I have a Braille and used the stock battery top mount but bought new j-hooks from Sears Auto and cut them so they weren't too tall.

While we are the topic of batteries. Does someone know how many cold cranking amps the s2k needs to start? The Sti I just sold had a 11.5lb braille and I didn't have any problems from daily use. Only time I killed it was on the alignment rack from having the brake pedal held down. Other than that even sitting a week at a time didn't give me problems and neither did the low temps we saw this winter.

Back from the dead... Thanks for all the info in this old thread. Just bought a Deka ETX14L and the adapters from that Tri-State Battery site.

Quick update:

I've been on a Shorai LiFePO4 battery for over a year and half, with no issues. I highly recommend it! under 5 lbs.

I agree Shorai is the way to go. The largest capacity battery is right at 5lbs and has the same or slightly higher CCA than the OEM at 30 lbs.
The guys that I've talked to say that the Decca and Braile usually die in a year. The CCA of these batteries is only around 200 CCA and less than 1/2 the OEM rating. The draw on them is much too high and kills them. Likey OK for a track only car but for a DD the Shorai is better.

Mike, do you use a trickle charger or anything? Or is it just like running the stock battery?

Thanks for the check-in. I have one in my motorcycle and it works great. I'll definitely be replacing the Odyssey in my racecar with a Shorai.

I got the 27, but I'd recommend the 36, and I'd get the 36 if I did it again.

Whooh, a little expensive on that LiFePO4 battery... But I'm sure its worth it for the DD'ers. I drive mine MAYBE 5k miles per year, so hopefully the Deka ETX14L will be OK for me. Do you guys think I need to buy a trickle charger and leave it plugged up all the time? I may go 10-14 days between cranks regularly. I have zero experience with trickle chargers, so any recommendations will help.
