Boots for shock piston rods

From what I can see it only covers part of the damper body, springs and almost the entire rod. Since the reservoir is external the impacts are negligible. I take it that the shock cover extends the length of the upper & lower spring seats.
Unless I'm missing something?

Hmmm...I would've thought the shock socks are similar to dust boots. They're not made of any special heat reflective material that will trap in the heat. And that the shock would be able to dissipate/radiate the heat pretty easily, even with these socks.
I guess I should run without any dust boots and leave the shock rod exposed
That is what they are, dust boots
.
I did not say don't run them, just that reservoir has little to do with it. Reservoir helps with shock running cooler but not because it is exposed to air. It helps with cavitation which is source of heat.

A dust boot isn't sealed. Anything that slows airflow or traps air around a shock will slow it's heat loss. You wouldn't put one of these socks over your radiator would you? Shock cooling is very important on the track.
The problem this product is designed to solve is already handled with the KW V3's dust boot "skirt." These may be great for street use on other shocks though.
