[QUOTE=freq,Jul 7 2005, 09:59 AM] Well, I can tell you this. The front ducts WORK. The inside pads were considerably thicker than the outside pads, cooler pads =

I found that just removing the dust shields works fine. My pads seem to last long, never experience fade, and when the rotors do crack they do so on the outer surface, not the inner surface. I did have ducting (the C&T Engineering set like Sideway's) a while back for a couple track days, but gave them up so I could use a splitter (which would have blocked the front ducts) and found no difference in performance. My guess is that when I removed the C&T shields and didn't put back the OEMs, that made the difference compared to stock set-up. Years ago the early S2000 track addicts/pioneers used to just do this, remove the shields.

I gave up on the splitter shorthly after that because it kept hitting things, and have not put back ducting. This has been the case for the past 3000+ track miles. Just thought I'd share my experience since I at least tried ducting briefly.

I'm going to try and say this politely: if you have to ask that question here on this forum, perhaps it would be best if you did not attempt to do this work without a mentor.

(The answer to your question is, unfortunately, "the right size for the job".)

OK, I've never riveted before, but I can test before doing it.
I was just trying to save myself from buying several sizes until finding the adequate ones.

I used 5/32" diam rivets, with 3/16 to 1/4" grip range. Use 3-4 per flange.

Yeah, just buy one of each, they're only about $1.50 a box at Home Depot. I'd get the stainless steel ones also.
