The AP1 uses 8mm bolts between the trans and driveshaft and the driveshaft and pumpkin. The AP2 uses 10mm bolts. So yeah, the trans to driveshaft connection is the real issue. EIther way, I don't think UD/BD expected people to use 8mm bolts in 10mm holes, but to use the AP1 transimission in an AP2 that's what you'd have to do, IMHO. FWIW, an 8mm Honda bolt in a 10mm Honda hole is a tigher fit than a 10mm bolt in a 10mm hole for many other brands.

also, you could UD/BD the input flange on the diff and no longer have any issue at all. Since that mod is legal, why would anyone be bitching about 8mm bolts?

good point. And yes 8mm bolts in 10mm holes does not seem to cause any issues. One full season complete and i havent messed with it at all (though i was worried at first for sure!)
Great to hear of the previous BSP national champ coming back on board! I miss the sound of that car so much
I'm going to write a letter to the SEB to ask for clarification/approval to let us have a catch can drain into the oil pan. Anyone have a problem with that or willing to support this? I'm sick of draining the catch can and I think this is safer than having a petcock inside the engine bay that could potentially open up and release oil so it's a safety issue for me as well (not that I've ever had this problem but still).
Why wouldn't 15.10.A allow you to do this already?
[quote name="15.10.A"]Engines must retain standard type lubricating system, but may have
any oil pan (Accusump®-type systems allowed), oil pump and pick-
up, oil cooler(s), or oil or fuel filters. Fuel filters must be of automotive
type and may serve no other purpose; a substituted fuel filter may
not be used as a reservoir. Substituted fuel filters may not exceed
one quart total capacity. A permitted oil cooler may be positioned in
an opening in an allowed spoiler, provided no unauthorized modifica-
tions are made in order to perform the installation. Any power steer-
ing fluid cooler may be added.
