Buttonwillow fully repaved
What does everyone thing this will translate to as far as decreased lap times? I'm actually kind of sad. That was one of the defining features of the track, and I think it was a good test for a shock's capabilities.
I wonder if it's going to be as butter smooth as CVR.
Anyone run on the repaved surface yet? I think Speedventures is hosting their first event since the repaving at the end of this month.

really? IMO the road is too dirty bumpy and old. There are too many cracks, and they have done so many partial re-pavement, where cars tend to bounce around. I saw many cars suddenly lost traction at the edge of old and new pavement. In a word, dangerous.
I was always scared my shock and any arms would get broken or damaged.
It's under construction now. There is an open test day on July 25 it's even earlier than speed venture event. There will be tons of people I guess

I agree with Albert. The bumps, cracks and slick parts added to the challenge of driving that track fast. But I'm also excited to try it with fresh pavement.
As to the original question, I think it will be close to 2 sec faster. That's based on pretty much nothing at all though.

I keep hearing about the repave, guess it's true. I too liked the bump character of the track. Gave it a challenge and wasn't too rough that it got in the way.
Overall happy that Buttonwillow is maintaining their track vs just repaving portions like they did years back.
edit: Looks like repaving is in work. From their website:

Two things:
1) Fastest Non-Aero time prior to repave with video proof. Forever mine. Suck it
2) My guess is it will be a good 2-3 seconds faster. I'll be there the 25th for open test with Brian, if anyone wants to come hang you're more than welcome to.

Not complaining. I'm actually sad to see it go, especially now with me finally picking up a set of coilovers. I guess i'll wait to put the COs on. I need a new base line for testing out the car before I put the COs on.
Imagine what kind of out cry there would be if they did something so blasphemous as to repave a track like Sebring

i hear you are really good at video editing?
two things:
1. Whats for dinner
2. will this result in a price increase for tracking events at buttonwillow?
What I liked about it was that it was like our little Nurburgring - the ideal setups tended to be closer to street setups in terms of compliance. You actually need decent shocks, not just stiff springs like on most other tracks.
