How are these on rotors, and more importantly, what is the usable temperature range? I street drive on my Carbotechs, but I did just get a set of the 1521, so if the bedding is compatible with the rest of the Carbotech line, these might be winners.

Here is the breakdown on the RP2. It is so like the XP12, that is has almost the same identical temp range for performance (starts coming in around 300 def F, starts to really bite at around 500 def F and has a ceiling or high limit around 1900 deg F.). The one thread stated they felt like they had more initial bite then the XP10, and he was absolutely correct. They have almost the same bite as the XP12 (which has more bite than the XP10), and are very close in initial torque. We have noticed one subtle difference in the torque between the two, the RP2 are a little smoother into the braking zone than the XP12 is and the RP2 seem to have a little more stopping power when you really ask for it (meaning the more pedal you give it the more it seems to slow the car than even the XP12 does). The RP2 is more linear (key industry word some will be looking for) than the XP12 is. We are getting reports of 2-3 times the pad wear or pad life than the XP12 has been getting, and that has been on Vette's, S2000's and other 3000+ pound cars. The Lemons and Chump Car guys have been getting great results as well, but they are running slower and often brake fewer times than you would on a track day per lap due to track configuration, tires, and old cars with worn out engines. They will get more pad life than you will on the S2000 raging around the track on R comps or even street performance tires. That is one other thing to keep in mind, tire choice. The RP2 compound may be too strong for many of the street performance tires that are on the market, and being used at track days. Those running XP10's may need to stay with XP10's. Tires such as the PS, PS2, NT01, NT05 and Direzza, may be able to handle the RP2, but for the most part, on the S2000, an R comp would likely be needed. The price: (retail, no club discounts are listed here so many of you will pay less) XP10-$190, XP12-$205, RP2-$221. Front part number is the CT829-RP2.

Brakeswap and 949 are both tremendous dealers and knowledgeable racers. We recommend using one or both of them for your S2000 orders and any other cars that you may have. Ordering directly is of course still an option, and the S2K forum members get a 7% discount on any pads that they order directly with us as well.

Talk to you later and thanks again,

Mike Jr.

I just spoke to Emilio this afternoon about the RP2. He said he should have them sometime next week. That is exactly what he told me. He said that he gets about 2-3 times the pad life than the XP12, at the cost of a bit more rotor wear and less streetability. I ended up buying the XP12's instead, but will definitely try the RP2's next time when he has them in stock.

Hey Mike, what would you suggest we run on the rears with the RP2's up front. I like the brake bias of the XP10/8 combo, and would like to keep it the same. Should I go with XP10's in the rear with the RP2's up front? I will be running RA-1's and Hoosiers this season, so no more street tires for me. I figure I will need a more aggressive compound than what I normally run (XP10/8 on Star Specs).
