Default CE28N vs CCW Classic

Is it just me, or do the Volks cost just as much as the CCWs? I got quotes for $2200 for each. Besides the lack of a 235/40R18 RA1 sizing, is there any reason to get the Volks?

Volks (CE28) are stronger, lighter, and I believe cheaper. 17's will save you a lot on tires. CCW's if you are going for wide 18's with proper offset. If you go 18's there are 245 and 275 RA1's.

You can get the Volks for 1800-2000.

Volks are in all liklihood easier to sell in the event that you decide to part w/'em. They are lighter, but they're not a 3 piece design, either, so if you do bend one, it's going to be more expensive and may even take longer to get just one Volk than CCWs.

CCW can make you 17s.

If you're gonna spend the $ for 18s I'd get the 1pc ccws. they're a LOT stronger.

The reason for it looking like a tossup was that the 3pc CCWs were the same price as the Volks. The 1pc are an extra $100 a corner. Where do you find Volks for $1800?

yeah but a rim half is $100, and seriously you'll have a hell of a time bending the 1pcs so its pretty unlikely you'll need a "half" where the spun halfs of a 3pc are a lot softer.

Not sure what you're saying. Are you saying the 1pc are worth the extra money?

You can get Volks from a number of board sponsors, I got mine from Evo. If you haggle you can get them for about $2K +/-. They are lighter, stronger and just plain look great compared to the 3pc CCW. If you go with Volks get 9s all around rather than staggered. There are almost always Volks available the problem is getting them in the same color. If you abuse them and get all 9s then maybe consider getting 5 so you have a spare.

yes exaclty. the 1pcs are stronger than the volks to boot, tho the volks are lighter.

But you could go 10" at all 4 corners and the volks can't keep up. And if you follow eriks advice to buy 5 then they cost more than the 1pc ccws. If you bend a 1pc ccw you'll have probably broken your suspension too, they're that strong.

And -if- you need a replacement, there's rarely a supply issue unlike the volks.
