CR the car to have for BS?
IIRC the S2000 was originally in AS and a few years ago moved to BS and the CR was in AS until it also moved to BS last year. But I might be remembering that wrong since I wasn't paying attention to S2000s till recently.
With the CR and normal S2000s both being in BS, is having a CR a big enough difference that it is really that car to get for BS? For example, in CS the MS-R package is so much faster that most of the cars that won nationals had it. Normal NC miatas can't really keep up in CS, so most are moving to STR.
I'm thinking of buying an '06 or '07 S2000, and I would like to have the option to run it in BS or STR depending on what I feel like. But if the CR is that much faster, I might just have to save some more money and get on of those instead, or just be happy to run in STR.
My current Subaru is hopelessly outclassed and since I might want to go to nationals in a few years I don't want to be stuck in the same situation. Thanks.

Probably not a must have, but if you want an ideal setup, you'll probably want to start with a CR. AP2 power, AP1 weight, especially the rare delete model. I forget, was the CR that took nationals on Stock shocks? It was in 08 IIRC.
[Yes, my post is completely self serving. See sig]

Looking to build a dedicated track car and I'd rather start with a less expensive model. Plus, I'm hoping that there is an SCCA autoxer out there that would appreciate my car stock. Makes me not want to gut it and weld in a cage since there are only 59 delete models.
I don't think it's too stiff for a daily. It would be for me because I live in a city with sh!tty roads (bent 3 wheels on my SVT focus). A highway or suburban commute would be better, as well as having a/c and radio - but then you start taking away the CR's advantage.

Having driven many different S2000s in Stock Class prep and STR, I believe any model S2000 can get the job done. I owned an '05 S2000 before my recent CR and have co-driven an AP1 on multiple occasions ... even at same events. It all comes down to setting the car up to suit your driving style and inspire driver confidence. On most courses, IMO the best car for the class is the GXP. The CR is just a little better prepared out of the box. On other model S2000s, the shock and sway bar settings are slightly different in order to give me the same feedback/feel on course. Running 275s up front may be the only option the CRs have over other S2000s. I have run 245s up front and wouold have no problem running them again. I currently use the 275s up front because the other drivers in the car are used to it.
