QFT!

I have had 4 Evo's and on my 3rd s2k. I go back and forth between them. I love them both for different reasons. I have had Evo 8, 9 an X's, I built an all-out caged 8 as well. Evo will kill the wallet - s2k will as well, but doesn't seem to hurt mine as bad as Evo did.

After track days, replacing oil, trans and diff fluids kill the wallet esp if using OEM fluids which is recommended.

Dude -- chill out. This is a discussion forum. Part of having a discussion is that people ask questions. No need to get worked up over it.

I don't think PedalFaster's comment was sarcastic in any way; I was wondering the same thing myself.

What is the fluid in the trunk that is used in the EvoX? I have a buddy with an EvoX and the fluid level drops unless he turns something off...
That's the ATF reservoir for the AWC system I mentioned.

It's just that considering the MSRP of both vehicles new being so similar the EVO X was just so much more costly to perform the same as the S2K. It's hardly an exotic but, it sure does feel like your dollar goes so much further in an S2K. But I mean it is the nature of AWD: extra moving parts adds up, there really is no way around that.

Sorry, man, I'm stuck out in the middle of the ocean right now on a U.S. Navy ship...I'm tired, I miss my wife, I miss my S2K, and I'm a little grumpy. EVERYONE is annoying to me right now! Didn't mean to take it out on you!

I've driven an X and I have to say I wasn't a fan. Admittedly, my preference is exclusively for small, light, RWD cars (at least for street/track/autox), but even compared to the 8/9 the X seems heavy and a little recalcitrant.

Personally, with an Evo X budget I would buy a late C5 Corvette and spend the difference on a full coilover kit, race pads, some FIA-approved seats, and harnesses.

I completely agree, but only after I read the definition of "recalcitrant" on dictionary.com.

re·cal·ci·trant   [ri-kal-si-truhnt]
adjective
1.
resisting authority or control; not obedient or compliant; refractory.
2.
hard to deal with, manage, or operate.

I am looking to sell the Evo X and get a CR for auto-x.

While I haven't had any experience owning an Evo I have had a fairly modded WRX and STI. Had the WRX, sold for s2k, sold s2k for STI, and now back in a s2k. At my skill level the Sti was probably faster in every way but when you want to go out and drive and put a smile on your face it just didn't do it like the s2k. The car was easy to drive relatively fast and it really does take some of the fun out. Plus everything feels kind of numb in comparison to the s2k.

I feel like I will ultimately become a much better driver learning how to drive the s2k fast. Like it's been said a few times maintenance on the s2k is far less expensive.

thanks for all the feedback and comments guys.

So I went and test drove the evo X and IX... have to say I was pretty

disappointed. I watched top gear, and he gave such a great review, but

compared to our S2000 it was not up to par in feel and response.

I also test drove the new STI and of the two (evo and STI) I felt like

the STI was more "fun".

Looks like I will keep my S2000

S2000 for life!
