Default Finally made it to the Drag track last night

So if I learned one thing last night it is that I need more practice. I was not concentrating on reaction time but rather on launching so be kind. Keep in mind that I took it to the track stock and ran a 15.0x. The track is also at about 4800 ft altitude.

Setup
~6.5psi
38psi in the tires
Full interior and junk in the trunk

1st run ever after the turbo install, car went sideways shifting into 2nd, scared the crap out of me massive wheel spin off the line.

rt .515
60 2.779
330 6.428
1/8 9.616
mph 79.74
1000 12.347
1.4 14.578
mph 103.59

2nd run managed to keep it strait in second but still had to throttle the wheel spin
better control off the line but I was still smoking them.

rt .423
60 2.452
330 6.443
1/8 9.571
mph 80.32
1000 12.243
1.4 14.437
mph 103.09

3rd run a bit better launch still spinning in second bounced off the rev limiter in 4th

rt .524
60 2.256
330 6.057
1/8 9.106
mph 81.80
1000 11.739
1.4 13.934
mph 102.08

4th run tried launching at about 2500 and lit them up not sure how I managed the 2.2 60 ft. Trap speed went up by 3 mph???????

rt .383
60 2.257
330 6.084
1/8 9.123
mph 81.75
1000 11.708
1.4 13.889
mph 105.26

Overall I am very happy with the car and it is still much faster then I can drive it so practice, practice, practice. Going to drop the tire pressure the next time I go to possibly help with spin off the line and in second when I am having to let off.

I also may remove the clutch delay valve as well. Takes forever to grab in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Losing a bunch there hopefully it will not induce more wheel spin.

Opinions, comments???

you should probably be trapping even higher...a stock car is suppossed to trap ~100 mph... if conditions are right and your shifting is good... but you have traction issues...

a turbo car should trap closer to 110 mph...

how is your tune? are you losing timing?

good runs though... i agree you need practice...i know i need a lot...

Keep in mind I am at 4500 ft altitude.

The tune is perfect!!!!!!

110 trap speed should put in the 12's correct? I need to fix the wheel spin!!!

gotswap, wheel spin sucks!

My fastest time so far since the turbo is 13.59@113mph. That was on an unpreped track with temps in the low 40's and sun had already gone down. Another s2000 there ran 13.7@101mph with exhaust and jdm motor.

I am not a drag racer (so I very well could be wrong about this!) but I thought at the drag strip you should be running your rear tire pressure a little lower than you would on the street to increase traction. If that is right, you might try something lower than 38psi. The stock tire suggested pressure is 32.

If this is right, it might help give you a little extra hook up. Again, you might want to check with someone else before trying it since I am far from an expert in anything

High pressures in the front to reduce rolling resistance and low in the back to increase footprint. You should definitely get the clutch delay out of there or your disk and flywheel is going to be fried.

Next time I am going to drop tire pressure and remove the CDV, that thing sucks as I am prolly losing 1/10 on each shift into 3rd, 4th and 5th. Looking for low 13's high 12's.

You gotta feather and ride out the clutch launching at 3k. Try to not have any wheel spin at all. If you're trapping at over 110 in a turbo car then you should be seeing mid to high 12's. set your tires to 30psi in the rear, don't touch the front. My car was SC, and I don't know when your turbo spools but you should definetly have better midrange with that turbo.

When you hit 2nd, don't let off the gas, even if it spins, try to control it but you'll lose all your momentum if you let off. Also the reason your back end is sliding out might be because of uneven tire pressure.

I'm sure you can pull at least a 2.0 60 foot time and that will set you off nice for the 1/4 time.

try revving it up to about 3-4k and then ride out the clutch and floor it right before it fully engages, you will have the best launch. Or, you could launch it at like 6k and just give half throttle untill it catches and then go to WOT.

Main this is shift fast as hell and keep it floored the whole time, except shift obviously, don't power shift with a turbo.

Thanks for the tips and I will add them to the list for the next track day!!!!
