First time High Speed Touring
Had an absolute BLAST on Saturday for COMMA High Speed Touring event held at Hallett Raceway outside Tulsa, OK. Met up with another S2k (Burt on the forums) and some of his friends one with an NSX and the other with an Eclipse GT (very supprising performance out of that little car). The track was quite tricky, especially for a n00b like me.
The NSX's favorite spot was the corner in the upper-left where he blew a coolant hose and spun off the track right in front of me
So me and Bert had to take evasive action around that! My favorite spot was the hairpin in the upper-right where I brought my S2k a little sideways, but was able to catch it. I went up there just to watch some friends in their Z-06's race, but when I got there, and the smell of the burned rubber, and exhaust fumes, and the sound of revving engines, I just couldn't resist joining in on the fun! Unfortunately, since I didn't think I was going to race, I didn't switch to my racing tires (funny though, I DID bring my helmet!).....I'll tell you, Dunlop SP8000's are good tires, but they're not meant for the track!
Be safe and keep it on the track

Yup...coming over those hills at 80+ with only a few feet to spare before the turn is quite a thrill. Enjoyed Driving with Jeff! Hopefully we can do it again in September/October. I won't be able to make the August ones. The NSX is still in Tulsa waiting on hoses, but it should be back in action by this weekend.

How was the surface? Heard that the repaving is not holding up.. is it? A couple of us talked about going but had trouble scheduling.. it is a long trip for one day and hard to schedule a Fri/Sat. Plus I am going to TWS this weekend and sure can't get away with back to back track weekends.

Yeah, the track condition isn't the best......but it's better than nothing. For the price it's really hard to beat. The COMMA events are held Saturday/Sunday, so you should try and come up for that sometime, but being in Dallas already, it's probably easier and much more enjoyable to go to Texas Motor Speedway and race there, and it's probably worth the extra $ too.
