Better question is in those 14 track days how many off track excursions did these wheels have. I know the author of the Jalopnik article posted at least one example.

The shock was enough to shear the threads on the perch of my V3s and give me a sick mad drop (my spats were eroded by the pavement). After scrounging up a, uh, "suitable" collar from Sevens Only, I was able to drive home on it, and no vibration (an no visible bends either). These are due a new set of tires, we'll see how they balance, but they seem fine.

As far as I know, thepoi drives relatively clean, but it's best if he answers that question.

Titanium would be pretty dope, but I don't want to know what that would cost. thermal conductivity of 304 stainless is 13-17 W/mK, while CP2 titanium is about 16W/mK. save the Ti for an exhaust

Yikes, glad you walked away..
I've heard so many horror stories about Forgestar wheels from both Camaro and Corvette forums makes you wonder if the F14 actually stands for f..k it after 14 events :/

contrary to popular belief expensive wheels ( such as Volks and others ) also fail every once in a while but always the cheaper wheels get the bad reputation possibly because..well.. they're cheap

I dropped them off this morning, the guy I was talking to though (Vincent) wasn't in the building unfortunately, so I'm not certain what their plan is for analysis or the ETA. I'll shoot him an email and find out.

After this weekend I'll update the first post with all the relevant data, but going through my service record, here's what I have:

1. BW 13CW, off at Bus Stop, debeaded rear left (tank slapper, slid off track surface to the left)
2. BW 13CCW, overshot Bus Stop (dropped left wheels off the curbing), underbody scraped on the edge of the curbing
3. BW 13CCW, missed braking point on Sweeper, straight 4 off
4. BW 13CW, dropped right front into curbing on inside of Riverside (this broke the spring perch due to coil bind. This means I did not have bump stop engagement on the front shocks the entire time I had the Buddy Club ball joints installed, which happened prior to mounting the F14s. After this incident I added a spacer to fix this issue.)
5. WSIR, missed braking point turn 9, 4 off

I thoroughly inspected the right front after incident #4 as I was sure I had bent or cracked it, and didn't see anything alarming. Curiously, as of this morning, this is the best condition wheel by far, having only very small cracks near the hub on only a few spokes. I most likely didn't inspect the other wheels thoroughly, or at least didn't record it if I had.

As mentioned earlier, I inspected the exterior of the spokes prior to WSIR (where incident 5 occurred), but did not dismount and inspect. The backsides of the spokes may or may not have been cracked prior to that track day. Wish I knew!

I'm at least 5 seconds too slow for that to be the case

So my friend's Fiero exploded tonight and I'm not going back up to Buttonwillow, so I've started going back and reviewing. I never noticed this when bobby made this post, but there may be something here. Bobby, hopefully you're still around--where did that 19lb number come from? Notice mine weighed 17.75lbs. Look at the difference in spokes! Bobby's spokes go all the way from the lip and out, and visually appear much thicker than mine.

Here's mine, with a ruler at the thinnest section:

Can someone with recently purchased F14 take this same measurement I did?

Okay guys. Joel asked me to update S2ki. I have wheels from three sets of Forgestars:

First is a 17x10 +55 flat black one that I purchased used from bobby.is.rad in August 2015. I don't know when it was made, but it has the thicker 15/16" or 23.8 mm spoke.

Second is a set of 17x10 +55 gold ordered on 9/30/2015 from Modbargains. They showed up on 11/18/2015. They have the thinner 3/4" or 19 mm spoke.

Third is a set of 17x10 +55 gunmetal ordered on 9/30/2015 from Modbargains. They showed up on 11/30/2015. They have the thicker 15/16" or 23.8mm spoke.

I can get pics up if anyone needs them. I am not sure why the gold set has a thinner spoke.
