Andy Wojteczko removed the brackets to put in the 'slugs' for height adjustment before rewelding them.

As anyone just considered making new brackets out of 1/8" or 1/4" plate and raising the pivots?

That could compensate for the reduction in swing arm length and raising of the roll center that occurs with a steepening of the UCA angle. Sort of a 'roll center adjuster' for the upper arms. It would also be possible to adjust the fore/aft angle that affects anti-dive.
