Yes. Will the bowl come out easily?

I've never tried it. But the bowl is bigger than the opening I believe. There is your first busted knuckle challenge!! Just read another thread where CKit messed with the oem bowl and actually got it removed. It seemed as though he cut the tank open though.

We did cut the tank and IIRC the OEM swirl pot is welded in there and has to be cut out.

I think I'd work some tin snips in there and cut, then flatten the OEM swirl pot. Careful though. It's SHARP.

Then lay the mat on top of the flattened swirl pot.

Also, if you lay it only inside of an intact OEM swirl pot, it may still starve as high-g's keeps the fuel out of the bowl… the little holes in the side of the OEM pot are pretty small.

I think the Holley Hydramat might work for the majority of folks who might get fuel starve for some brief periods. Unlike the OEM sock it doesn't need to be fully submerged, so if it can maintain pressure for just a few seconds that might be enough. Of course only way to know for sure is to try it out.

curious how long it would take if say. You submerge the holley mat in gas then remove. How long until its dry enough to provide adequate pressure. Given even the longest High g turns are usually less than 5 seconds(except nascar track), would the mat sustain pressure for that period. if so, IMO flatten out the OEM bowl internally best you can. Then get the largest mat possible that lays flat in the tank.

Also remember that your tank is pressurized internally a minor. I wouldnt be surprised if the Holley mat benefits from pressurized fuel vapor in some way as well to very small degree.

Here is one of the best I could find: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/753...e-fuel-starve/

When I first posted about this mat, I wasn't aware that the tank would be such a PITA.

I think the easiest fix is an external surge tank. This is the one they made for me.

I used one of these on my e30 and it was amazing. Not sure where you would mount one in an S2k though.
