Awesome thanks!! Great location, I was skeptical about putting it behind the driver in the trunk tray.

Guys, call me crazy here. But it appears they sell a fuel mat that would mate directly to our fuel pump.

Does anyone have a stock fuel pump lying around that can verify that the stock filter/sock connects via a 11mm fitting?

This could solve everyone's fuel surge problems with a single part.

Still have the bowl in the way, which has been the biggest deterrent.

The longer end looks plenty long enough to me (mounted left to right across the tank) to go up and over the bowl and held to the right corner of the tank (where the fuel would be in a long left turn) with a magnet.

That way the half the mat is in the bowl (where there is ample full for braking, accelerating, and right turns) and the other half is outside of the bowl for left turns.

I'm not sure I'd place my faith in that. Ultimately, I'm glad I went to a surge tank.

the real issue is the fitting for the hydra mat being an AN style vs the o ring slip on fitting. If that gets solved pulling the swirl pot is the only hurdle.

Why do you have to pull the swirl pot?

You dont have to i guess. But you'd want the hydra mat laying flat across the bottom of the tank. The swirl pot is small and sits on the drivers side of the tank. The edges are super sharp and laying a mat over it could result in cutting the mat.

I was thinking of using a fuel line and cut and cut it length wise and wrapping the edge of the swirl pot as a protector for the mat.

Yeah I guess if you want to be able to run with an almost empty tank then you'd want to remove it. But if you just want to avoid occasional fuel starve and are ok with having at least a 1/4 tank then you can leave the pot. From the pictures I've seen the edges of the pot curve down a bit, if laying it on top with the magnets keeping it from moving, do you think cutting the mat a real concern?
