home-made splitters?
3/8" plywood from Home Depot. Use cardboard to mark the position of all the bolts (in the bumper cover and the 2 on the bottom of the radiator frame. Transfer it to the plywood and drill the holes. Next bolt the sheet onto the car and with a compass draw an outline of the front lip the depth you are looking for. Take a jigsaw and cut the outline.
Next, unbolt the cut splitter, place it on the remainder of the plywood sheet and use it as a template to create a second one. Drill and cut.
Using a sander round over the leading edge and clean up the top surface of the wood. Prime and paint with a spray can. Repeat for the spare.
Two strong splitters in 30 minutes for $30. Can't be beat. If the look of wood bothers you the pickup a can of body filler at pep boys. Coat the top and leading edge to fill the grain then sand, paint and polish. People will think it's fibreglass.
