I think you or I misread something somewhere.

The PCV is a vacuum leak to help vent the blow by from combustion. If you cap the PCV and just vent the front port on the valve cover you are eliminating the chance to suck oil/fumes into your IM and causes smoking while still allowing the crankcase to disperse the pressure build up.

Leak down was 1% in cylinders 1 and 3
1.5% in cylinder 2
and 3% in cylinder 4
(i'm a firm believer in frequent oil changes)

I'm going to install a baffle in my oilpan or try and confuse the oil to stay baffled, then get an ap2 valve cover and drill a few holes, add a pair of moroso catchcans. I'll update the thread once i install everything and take it out to the track

For the record, my car doesnt smoke while drifting or autocrossing. It only happens on certain turns on the track and once in a blue on the street.

does anyone know if the canton pan still leaves the flywheel exposed?
Consider http://www.saikoumichi.com catch cans. They are really high quality, custom made to whatever you desire, and probably less expensive.

thanks for the tip, for 150 a pair of cans with a clean install, and easy access to drain the cans, win win win.

PCV is purely for emissions purposes. Get rid of it and cap it.

When originaly designed, this was true. PCV is also now helping to release crankcase pressure.

What are y'all using to plug the PCV port on the valve cover?

Gum. Wrigley's spearmint chews for 5 min. Biodegradable if it gets sucked in.

Justin, I just use a simple cap from the autoparts store. I left the actual PCV there its just capped. I basically did what Rob did except I have a small filter at the valve cover vs a vented catch can.

I don't like spearmint, instead I attempted to match the threads of the PCV but haven't had much time to do so lately
