Step one - super regressive shocks with huge nitrogen charge
step two - 1.5" sway bar
step three - win.

You're probably right that CR advantage will be diminished with street tires, but keep in mind the AP1s will still have narrower wheels (6.5/7.5 vs. 7/8.5), so the 255 will work a lot better on the AP2 rear wheel. Still, I'd rather fight an AP2 in a street tire battle than on Hoosiers.

@sirbunz:
What do you have in mind for saving BSP? I haven't written my letter yet.

@JJanzen: I'm wondering if the final wheel / tire rule will allow +/- width changes that would allow AP1/2 swapping.

I would think this might be on the table since allowing increase in diameter but not width can make for some odd custom sizing not found regularly. If the goal is running cheaply and being able to run a competitive tire, I'd see them allowing a +/- diameter / width if comparable to other wheels on a model line.

I hadn't considered this option, but I like it!

Keeping the SSLP cars out. I don't like the idea of running against the Z06, GT3, and Elise with "limited prep" (whatever limited prep turns out to be. This wouldn't be a problem if they leave SS alone. SS is one of the most popular classes and shouldn't be changed IMO. BSP just had a major overhaul and I feel it's growing in popularity fast (for an SP class). If the SCCA leaves it alone just as they did with A-Stock, i think the numbers will be strong. It will be hard for anyone to put forth the expense and prep a car to BSP trim if the class is in question. Then the class will surely fail. I'm sure some will disagree with me, but I'm the one out the expense of building a BSP car and facing these possibilities. Thanks for your consideration!

It's too late for this to happen Josh. I used the M3 "lightweight" example just to show what should happen to these special edition cars, not just the CR.

I like the changes to stock class, other than the remote canister rule. I've been running Street Tire class and RTR this year, and being PAX'd kinda sucks.

I sent my letter in! Basicly said-

- Street tires are good
- Swaybars can control the roll on street tires
- Adding camber is fine
- Stock shocks only! or keep the remotes! (packaging issues for double monotubes on some cars, no price difference, ETC)
- Spare BSP
- LPSP is f@#king stupid

If the SCCA REALLY cares about giving the AP1 a chance to live in stock or street class again, this is what needs to happen:

-Let owners put on CR springs and swaybars
-Let owners put on AP2 sized wheels

It's quite simple really. Give the AP1's the spring and tire they need to be comepetitive. I would still run an AP2 or CR over an AP1 anyday even with these mods, but it would allow top drivers a real fighting chance against average drivers in CR's with this stuff.

I would also let the AP2 guys run CR springs. Why not? Let's level the playing the field as best we can. It's an economical solution. Do it and watch the class flourish again.
