I got convinced after some research that Valvoline synthetic 10w-30 and NAPA synthetic 10w-30 come from the same batch can. So now I save my money run the NAPA stuff, changing roughly every 3k miles. And I stock up on OEM filters.

I've been using royal purple10w-30 and replacing it after every track weekend with almost no street driving. Reports always come back fine, but they don't recommend that i push it much more than I am. I just installed an oil cooler, so we'll see what difference that makes on oil breakdown in my next analysis.

At that rate, using something like 300v would be cost and time effective. I can do 8x the track events before having to put the car in the air to change oil and filter.

Could be true. TBN was fine, but the viscosity was a little low. Could be due to all the heat at VIR. We'll see how it looks now that I've got an oil cooler on the car.

Here's my reports. Basically the car only saw track days, very little street driving. The last oil change sat in the car for 4 months while it was on jackstands, so that might be why it's got fuel in it.

My Amsoil after 6 track days and 4,500 miles total looked like it handled the track better then the Royal Purple. I am switching to Motul 300V. The oil reports are out there that make it seem worth the money. I would suggest trying something else out. But it is comparing apples to oranges .

Just read your thread and you had an oil cooler with 300v. I'm sure that made much more of a difference than what brand of oil was used. Once I get the results back from the royal purple with the oil cooler, it will be more of an apples to apples comparison.

If anyone else has results from Blackstone, I'd love to see them. I'm definitely not married to any particular type of oil. Money saved on oil changes is money for track days.

Eh... Sure, the oil cooler helped things, but you are still changing your oil after every event. We don't need do that on our non-oil cooled track cars. The RP simply does not compare to 300v.

I'd be interested in the oil reports from those cars if you have them. The 300v would have to be better to justify the price increase, right?

Put it this way, you're currently changing oil 8x more than I am. Report back with your next sample with the added cooler and when you're looking to change to a more stout oil.
