Booo. I was hoping you'd be able to share oil reports from the cars running 300v without an oil cooler. I'm not here to defend royal purple. If there are oils that hold up better (which there probably are), I'll put those in the car. Just wanted to see reports on how well they held up so I could base that change on facts. Isn't that why we're all here?

I can't say that I have those on hand, however, I'm sure Google will help find some reports of these two oils ran in cars that see track usage. I mainly run the oil cooler because I know how much oil thins out at 300F temperatures. I don't even know what my track temperatures are on this car and this oil cooler has extremely tight fin spacing, which is why I ducted it.

You don't have to believe what I am saying, but you will soon find out, on your next oil-cooled sample, what I am trying to help you realize. It's not a stout oil for track usage (especially at a 30 weight) on a constant high RPM motor. As you've also noted in my thread, I had a good amount of street mileage and some AutoX too.

I am surprised. I have done 2 analysis and nothing bad at all. I forgot how many miles are on the car but it might be time to do another one.

Run oil for however long you want both miles and track days. Just make sure to check your levels.

When you do your oil change, send it out for analysis. They'll tell you if what you're doing/using is right or wrong - modify as necessary.

My own voodoo witch hunt practice:
-Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40
-6000 miles or 3 track days (which ever comes first)
-Change and replace with OEM filter

UOA with Blackstone has indicated my current practice is adequate. No shearing of oil, and no abnormal metal wear detected in oil samples.
Hey! We use the same method

I used to use 300v as well for the same intervals. Never had a problem/bad analysis. The Shell is just a ton cheaper and seems to offer to same protection at this interval. I'll stick by 5w40 though.

Yeah, Shell stuff is super cheap. ~$21 per gallon at Walmart (some times they have coupon sales, and you can get it for $18 per gallon).

for those of you that are curious. Here are my UOAs.

The first one is based on my standard practice.
The second one is my being a lazy asss (oil sat in my car for 15 months and around 7000 miles... Ooops. yeah, life happens).

As far as modifications go. No oil cooler. OEM radiator.

Power mods: Testpipe or HFC (I have both and swap for track days).
everything else bone stock where motor/power/cooling is concerned.

most other mods are in brakes/suspension/wheels.

Any idea regarding actual time on track? Looks pretty good to me. I may just go to Rotella as well.

3 track days.

4 or 5 sessions at 20-25min per session. I'll go conservative and say

3*4*20 = 240 min = 4 hours of track time

This is SoCal, so ambient temps were likely around 85-95F.
