Essentially, the reason for the small offset is as Orthonormal said. Just because the S2K can't or may not be able to fit a wild offset wheel, doesn't mean other cars can't.

Imagine being able to put the rear wheels about 2"-3" out from the fender? (Ref: CP). Sure, it wouldn't be good for the bearings, but still... there are people out there that have the silly money and werewithal to change them at every event as long as it means getting a leg up on the competition.

Locally? It's almost a 'who cares'. Nationally? Damn straight. The +/- .25 evens things out for everyone. The S2K is just that rare horse that there's not that many selections for.

Thanks for the help people. Since this is for a local events only, NER allows S2K and 350Z in STU, so I convinced him to go with 17" rotas and just go into STU and call it a day. (215/45's front and 245/40's rear.)

yeah i get that. Locally though i have to be careful, Rear wheel drive street tire is quite competitive. Most weekends its me, some vettes, and 2 BMW 318i that do amazingly well(good index)lol, that finish in the top 30%.
