Yes, exactly. I think the CR wing is probably a design compromise. It trades price and aesthetics for aerodynamic effectiveness and adjustability. If the user is also looking for those trades, it could be just the ticket. Otherwise I would recommend a higher, possibly larger, adjustable wing. Hopefully one that actually has some proof behind it. It's easy to make something that looks like a wing, harder to make something that works like a wing.

i just had the CR wing added to my car and i noticed a huge difference in handling and the car doesn't seem to sway as much or jiggle at high speeds. Not to mention that it looks amazing on the car!

i just read through this thread, and i'm wondering if anyone actually followed up with honda and got any numbers or explanations or data from them regarding the cr wing?

also, maybe i'm confused, but isn't lift and downforce basically the same thing? if you're reducing lift, you're creating downforce, right? if this is so, why is honda stating in terms of reducing lift vs. just saying a certain amount of downforce?

There's lift on a stock S2000 without a spoiler. You could negate that lift with a wing without actually creating downforce...

sorry for reviving an old tread, was reseraching the wing.

Anyhow on the JDM s2000 website, using google translate it states that honda used a wind tunnel under the aerodynamics section.

Approach to the Aerodynamics aerodynamic
The "steering stability performance pursuit of an open sports" as a major theme for the aerodynamic,
C of the entire vehicle L value with the aim to (lift coefficient) reduction, and is working on ideal "pursuit of the front and rear lift balance."
Large spoiler which is adopted in the front / rear, well is basic research in the wind tunnel laboratory,
by thorough real run test, was thorough investigation was the ideal shape assumes run in the open to detail.

Front spoiler provided with a large overhang. Left and right of the overhang, at high speeds, generate a force in the direction of pressing the body to the road surface.
We have tried to offset with the lift that tries float the body. In addition as a whole front spoiler,
management airflow flowing into the underside body. Expanding the negative pressure area of the lower face the body, while suppressing the generation of lift,
thereby achieving the rectifying effect of the air from the front.
Rear spoiler by wing cross-sectional shape of, C L achieve a significant reduction in value.
In addition, when open, when closed, both sufficient so that effect can be obtained, and modeling that is lifting the center bold,
actively rectify the seat back of the turbulence. C D value with to minimize the increase in the (air resistance coefficient),
have also contributed to securing the rearward visibility.
Also strake that is provided on the front and rear, which contributes to the reduction of air resistance by controlling the flow of air that hits the tire.
As a result of the above, C as a whole car D while minimizing the increase in value, C L significantly reduce the value.
Furthermore C before and after L By balancing the values in the direction to increase the stability of the rear,
in the straight-turning at high speed, and have acquired very stable behavior, maneuverability
