Just ordered a Shorai 36 for $20 more than the Mirai 27 on Amazon. Seemed like the best deal of the two brands for me, especially since there will be ice-cold starts on winter track days at Thunderhill.

Still looking hard at getting a couple Mirai LED light bars for my daily drivers, though.

Any updates from long term usage on the Mirai or Shorai? Still holding up OK? JJ and I know you had issues with your Shorai.

I've been running my Shorai 36a for over a year now, I took it off the car when the temps got down to about 30 degrees over then winter, put it back in once they got to 60+ in the morning and havent had any issues. Still working great.

9 months on a Shorai 36 with no issues. You will need a battery tender if you don't drive the car once a week. I killed mine letting it sit for two weeks in the winter, but it seems to have recovered fine after a nice slow trickle charge. Still starts fine on cold mornings after sitting overnight.

Same, I let it sit for over a month and it needs to be recharged. Go figure lol

I am running Battery Tender BTL24A360C Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, It was $179 and weighs like 2.5lbs I think and has a 3yr warranty. So far so good. I am using a braille mount and the battery terminals from my old Deka. I leave it on a battery tender plus but might buy the special lithium one at some point. It will start up fine after a week or two, but I wouldn't let it sit unconnected to a tender longer than that.

My Shorai lasted for about 18 months. When it worked, it was fantastic and its weight makes it a no brainer. If you let them discharge, they will have damage which is ultimately irreversible. I'd suggest keeping it on a tender between events unless you drive the car every few days.

My brother bump started a Ballistic and it did not like it very very much. Caustic smoky meltdown to the extreme. No flames though.
We both have Shorai 36's now, Mine must be going on two years. I just disconnect the ground if I know the car will sit, they are supposed to hold 90% of their charge for a year or something ridiculous like that so long as there is no power draw on them.
