on the tire selection.

I just posted up in the TT section... again. Sometimes I think folks overlook the obvious.

Running a late AP2 is better off points-wise than any other model. Sure, they added +6 and bumped you all to the next class. You automatically get one point back in the form of tire width. That makes the "real" bump +5. AP2's have also lost 5lbs.

AP1's have stayed the same as far as base class and "**," but have put on +40lbs. That's a +3 pts hit. +5(AP2) - +3(AP1) = +2pts difference between AP1 & AP2. Last year there was a +3 differential between the two because of weight. Add to that that the newer AP2's can reflash for no points, and you have the late AP2 coming out ahead of an AP1.

in an AP1 if you wanted to stay in TTD and run Ra1's for your 5points with no swaybar, do you think 245 all round would work or stick to 225/245?

That depends on your comfort level. You have a 2nd gen AP1, so the oversteer isn't as pronounced. I used to 225/245 RA-1's when I first started- liked them. That said, 245x4 could be done as well. Braking potential will be increased with the larger front tire, so you might want to duct your brakes.

yea i wouldn't do 245x4 or 255x4 with out an aftermarket sway bar. they car will be extremley twitchy as i have tried it on the street and it was a lil scary to drive and i have a comptech bar set to almost full stiff.

my last year set up was a 235/255 and that work great.

Don't worry at it. It's mainly newbie bashing. When you move up to HPDE4/TT, all we get is respect .

I finally got a ruling from Greg Greenbaum on the TCDesign bumpsteer kit, for all those that currently use it or are planning on using it. I ran this part last year, assessing it +2 as a bompsteer kit, and I had one of my regional directors(Ken Brewer) approval that way. However, I have been worried that this was wrong and I finally got Greg to respond, this is his email response to me...it should be assessed +7.

[QUOTE]Matt,

I would be concerned also.

Matt, are you referring to the rear BSK? I had the street version, but removed it because I couldn't see it being worth +2 last year. The thing is more like a tie-rod than a control arm. You have the track version?

Yeah, the track version. The oem part is called a control arm on the parts diagram.

Then I get to call my member 12".

Seriously, you have a rear upper and lower control arm. So what we're talking about is the S2000 having three rear control arms?!

I still don't see how they screwed up the AP1/AP2 thing. It was a 3-pt diff last year between the two, and now it's only 2-pts.

The big thing for me is figuring out how to get rid of 5pts now. It's been soooo long since I've driven the car with the stock piece, I don't know how it'll be.

I can either run the stock arm at 2545lbs, or I could keep the bsk and run at 2650lbs.
