Need some suggestions for auto X class?
Hey Everyone,
I used to attend FVSCC autocross events in Wisconsin a few years back. I currently live in Alaska where the nearest Auto X is 6-7 hours away in Anchorage. I have a 05 S2000 that I've been slowly modifying. Currently, I have Tein RS coilovers, Saner front sway bar, Hawk Brake Pads, an AEM V2 intake, and Apexi exhaust. From what I understand, all of this but the intake is legit for AS. It's been awhile (years) since I've really "driven" being way the hell up in BF AK. But I want to go to some events down south this summer. If I'm not legal for AS what would be the next class I would be most competitive in. I am sporting Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs - nothing as crazy as I'd like. For the amount of events I can do up here and the logistics of getting there good tires would dry out and be wasted.
Thanks
I've read the auto X fact many a times. Not sure what would be best. I really see now how cool it would be to be in the lower 48 again and go to every event possible every weekend

To run A Stock, you would have to return the intake to stock and change to shocks that can be used with the stock springs. It's possible that you can make an adapter that sits on the TEIN collar and has the stock spring seat shape.
Yeah, bighead has it right, the intake and coilovers will toss you in to BSP. You have to run stock springs in A stock, the only thing you can change on the suspension is the shocks which have to mount to the stock brackets. Even stock ride height springs are illegal if they are not OEM with stock spring rate.
From my experience, the s2000 is most competitive in A-Stock trim when properly prepped to the rules. The stock classes allow you to run any tire you want as long as they are stuffed on to wheels with the same diameter, width and near similiar offset (I think you can be +/- a few mm or two, someone chime in on this)
In order to be competitive you will need a v710 kumho or A6 Hoosier. No street tire will get you close to the times of these tires. But if you're just looking to have fun, play with the street tires. The best street tire out there for Autox hands down is the Direzza Star Spec Z1. There are other good tires but the performance is shockingly good for the price.

The rule reads - same diameter and width with an offset that is within +/- 0.25" of the OEM wheel dimensions. So +/- 6.35mm for metric minded people.
