New S2000 Challenge CLASSIFICATION for 2003
A few questions and thoughts about the "Series" part of the S2000 Challange Series:
Do you guys (Aaron and John) know what the dsitribution was of how many events S2000 drivers did with you last year? For example (these numbers are all made up), out of 20 total events, 2 people did all 20, 6 people did 15-19 events, etc.
I'm just curious how much the yearlong points competition in the various classes is determined by attendance.
Seems like with the expansion to a much wider geographical spread next year it will be pretty rare for anyone to do all the events, but still probably only California people can make it to enough events to amass enough points to compete. Is there some way to make the "Series" more competetive to more people? Or do you not see that as a problem? Maybe more ephasis on indivdual 'event winners'. Just thinking aloud.
On the classification, I've got:

I don't know if I'll have the time/money to run, but as it stands now, I'd have to go to MOD-R for x-brace, intake and tires. Would it not make sense to allow up to 15 non-suspension points and still keep the car in "Stock"? Maybe a Stock-R for those that don't want to waste S02's on the track.
Even if you do believe the PSC's are more expensive, the fact that they don't provide a performance advantage should allow them in. To look at an extreme example, if someone wants to spend thousands on a custom paint job, that doesn't disqualify them. (unless it's a magical paint makes them go faster)

Except maybe at Thunderhill. He is waaaay fast there...
So what I tried to explain earlier is to assign points to everything including tires and classes are based on total points, not finite items like shocks or tires.
So having R compounds on an otherwise bone stock car would get you in "MOD-1", but R compounds and a few mods and you quickly get to "MOD-2". But the newbie with 10k in mods and is running some crappy cheap street tire shouldn't be in the upper classes just becuase he's spent a fortune.
Do I make sense? It took me a phone call to explain my idea to aaron.
PS. the names "MOD-1" and "MOD-2" are just place holders to show multi levels. Not the actual names of the groups.
