OEM hardtop and STR
Comfort and convenience. Adds weight. No other performance benefit.
Or can it be argued that it is an aerodynamic improvement (which is only possibly true if you are using a big wing)?
Or that it increases body rigidity (on a floppy Miata, maybe -- but on an S2000...)?
If the exact year and package your car came with had the hard top as an available factory option (appearing on the Monroney label if it were included) then you could use it without having to claim "comfort & convenience".
For example, the CR models can all legally run the hard top in STR.
For any other S2000, I'm pretty sure it was a dealer accessory and not a factory option.
