I am sure there is a way to do it, but the way I look at it is you are drilling 6 holes in your trunk and installing a wing. If you are worried about denting or bending your trunk, then maybe a wing isn't the best thing for you. Your trunk will never be perfect again.

Have any of you guys with vented hoods tried sealing up the radiator? Seems like ducting the air into the radiator is a bit of a grey area in the rules that could help the front end a little.
Also interested in the answer to this. In a similar fashion to these methods:

I think a properly built exhaust duct would provide substantial aero gains. But even sealing the intake side and having a vented hood should help without taking a point hit. Maybe there's too much of a drag penalty for the s2k?

Haha good point. I'm not worried about it looking perfect I'm just trying to avoid this (stolen from josserman)

It's rebuilt title car that I bought from the auction, someone stuffed the left rear wheel into a curb. Besides the little rocker panel damage that I haven't done the body work on yet, its a very clean 70,000 mile 1 owner car though. I just like to try and keep things looking nice.

I've got no problem hacking up the inside of the trunk and welding in some bracing of some sort though

For me personally, I don't care about how the trunk looks itself. My issue is that if it deforms unevenly (left to right) would it cause adverse effects on the car since the wing may no longer be level? Furthermore, deforming trunk means the wing is changing the shape of the trunk rather than pushing the back end down. If this is not the case, then game on. Speed requires sacrifices

And thepoi, I'm seriously tempted by your setup. I'm just concerned that I won't have enough front downforce via big splitter and vented hood to match the rear downforce. Otherwise, its mounting and resulting efficiency seems ideal.

I am just going to leave this here in case someone magically decides to make the product I am dreaming of.

So a lot of guys with Miatas run the wing mounted between the quarter panel and trunk lid gap with rivnuts into the chassis. I noticed that the uprights on the GT-250 mount to the inside of the brackets on the wing which spaces the uprights 1/2"? into the trunk or so. Anyone think it would be possible to mount the uprights on the outside of the wing mounts to space them out a bit and them mount them in the trunk lid gap? It would require a little trunk trimming but it could be a more sturdy mount that wouldn't deform the lid nor change AOA.

Just brain storming, obviously I don't have one in my hands to see or measure but it looks possible from the photos I can gather online.

Singular motorsports made a kit with the GT-250, maybe we can pull this off with the S

This is a Flyin Miata upright for a COT wing but same idea

Meant to reply in the sale thread but forgot, whoops! I looked at the car a couple days ago and what you want is certainly doable--basically what sirbike is describing. It'll take some trunk mangling though, as there isn't enough space to get away without it, but the trunk seal would still work. I'll do some more measurements this weekend and maybe throw together a prototype design.

We can't all be perfect though.

You need to worry less. Once the trunk bends to a point that the trunk more or less becomes part of the chassis, it can't bend any more. Mine is finished bending, and it works fine.
