Default OT: Alternative ways to mount a GT wing?

Hi there, sorry for being Off topic but I am about to mount my gt(cheap/ghetto VIS

double deck aluminium special) wing on my SS, it will be a weekend hpde,

canyon thing.

I am just want to see if there's any other way to mount a wing effectively without

drilling more holes on the trunk. The reason i am asking this is because i saw an

S with a tire carrier and wing mounted on a aluminium rack which is attached on

the thrid brake light hole.

Let me know if you created or saw some clever solution on the track.

THANKS

jason

If you want to avoid holes, buy a spare rear decklid from a breaker yard and swap out your trunk lid when you HPDE your car. If that's not an option for whatever reason, yeah, you could mount a trailer hitch or similar device (I recently fabb'd one to be used as a bike rack for a friends IS350) on the bottom of your trunk and run aluminum poles or something upwards and mount the wing on that. It's gonna flex a lot more at speed than a regular trunk mount unless you make it uber heavy, though.

Those are the mounts to Rylan's wings. They go through the trunk and bolt directly to the body. Though, in order to run them, he had to cut some slits in his trunk. ASM has the same setup on their wide body time attack car.

This is the wing setup that I saw that didn't require holes drilled. It's alot of extra weight over just mounting it on your trunk and seems like more trouble then just swaping trunk. Looked really well built though.
