pedal replacements okay for A Stock?
Can I replace or augment (with a larger pedal) the accelerator pedal and still be okay for SCCA Stock Class A? Is this considered a "comfort & convenience" mod?
I'm looking specifically at the pedals described at

Despite all the kind words about heel&toeing the S2K, I still have a lot of trouble--not the kind that I believe practice is going to appreciably change.

The answer is no because the intent is to get a performance advantage, but heel and toeing is not very important in autoX (or am I missing out on something?). Anyone who can twist their right foot to the left should be able to put the ball of their foot on the brake with the heel on the gas, but it is not very comfortable. A custom designed, wide, right shoe should be legal.
Randy, I think you're missing something. There are often spots on an Auto-X course where a heel-toe downshift is worth a tenth of a second or more. Not every course has 'em but most of the one's I've seen have at least one location.
What I mean relates to the concept of "be on the brakes" or "be on the gas." With rare exception it just doesn't pay to coast. Coasting is exactly what happens just after I brake into a slow turn and downshift while braking, unless I heel-toe. In the time it takes me to abuse my synchros and get off the brake I could have already been accelerating through the turn.
By the way, I suck at heel-toe'ing but I know where to make my clumsy attempts and I feel the pain of lost time when I wimp out and do the two-step. Sure, if your class leader is whipping you by more than two seconds then there's bigger fish to fry in your (and, ahem, my) technique (damn that M3, grrr).

RandyP has the idea. Heel and toe shifting is a breeze on my former CSP Miata but with the S2k and it's wider pedal placement it's a bit of a challenge for this size 9 foot. I've been musing on adding an outrigger to my throttle pedal but the esteemed among us relegate this to the impermissible so I'm left with the epiphany of RandyP. I already have the widest shoes I own on at race day so why not add an outrigger to my right shoe. Hey here's an idea for the Group Buy guys to ponder. Special heel and toe footwear with an S2K logo no less.
Anyway I'll be engineering my track shoes for the next race.
