Default Pick a track car E90 M3 or S2K?

Don't want to derail the thread on turbo track cars. Wanted to get the opinion (obviously somewhat biased) from this crew. I'm planning to get very serious with seat time on the track and am faced with making a decision between going back to NA on my S2000 vs. selling it and making my E90 M3 (4door) better setup for the track with suspension, extra track set of wheels/tires, and big brake kit.

My thought is the S2000 will teach me much better car control, and will be more maneuverable, but I may just get too frustrated with the lack of speed. My home track is Lime Rock (only 1hr 10mins away) which is kind of the BMW track in some ways.

Thoughts?

You wanna be a better driver? S2000

You wanna be a douchebag? The other car.

In all seriousness, for your money and for learning/experience sake - the S wins hands down. I'd imagine if you put Miata against the BMW i'd take the Miata over it as well.

Either way it looks like you'll be doing some good driving, I'm sure most here will recommend to get the most seat time, and to go with the car that accomodates that, whatever it may be.

I've tracked both. The s2000 is more fun on track, mostly because of the weight difference.

Theres an E92 M3 that runs DE4 in Florida. Its stupid fast. I can only imagine the cost of pads and rotors though

If money wasn't a concern then I'd try the M3.

I ran PFC 01 pads front and rear in my e92. They're expensive but they last longer than you would think.

S2000.

E9x M3s are not that fast on the track anyways and are way more fun with all seasons. .02

Write down your goals. Find the right tool to accomplish Thrm. If you want to be the best driver, seat time is the answer. Pick something that lets you do that.

I run at Lime Rock all the time. Its setup perfect for the S2000 gearing. Its a momentum track and I never leave VTEC with AP1 gearing. I love it.

Yea I'm probably going to go the s2k route, will see jhow easily I can pick up replacement parts for na. The 275's on the 949 17x10s in rear may be too wide now without the power?

Never track a car you can't afford to wreck. Stuffing an E90 M3 would be really expensive.
