Polycarbonate windshields
So I got a nice chip in my windshield at CMP and didnt really notice it much until it started spreading at my last track event. While the safelite replacement isnt too expensive, I was wondering if the extra $200-$300 would be worth it in the end for a polycarbonate one. Just wondering if they are more resistant to rock chips, and if they are worth the money? I'd hate to have this happen again and have the glass windshields start becoming a reoccurring wear and tear item.
I was looking at something like this: http://www.racingshields.com/windshield_pricing.html

I have that windshield, and I didn't think it's worth it.
The product is great, and fits nicely, but it a hassle. It scratches and shows rock nicks easily. And I've always had issues with small leaks around the river points. All of that small stuff would be worth it, but it's only like a 5lb savings. I'm soon going to replace my with an OEM glass.

If you have an unlimited budget and a full-time mechanic then by all means - go for it. I don't have either of those things so even tho my racecar is 200lbs overweight I'll be replacing my stock windshield with another stock one.
