Power Potential Combo

I have learned one great thing in life over my short years of existance. It is not always the faster car that wins if the driver in the slower car is better. I am prepared to lose. Why? Because it would be my first time out not in a straight line. Losing is a learning experience. A learning experience on what needs to be done to win. Both of you bring up good points but a couple seconds can be made up with A. Better Driving B. More power C. Better tune D. The other driver making a mistake if they are better than you. The S2000 car as a whole may not be dominate but a S2000 could be. One of us can and will win. It is just a matter of when.
Yes yes yes and yes. The piece you're missing is:
A. Gary Thomason and Danny Popp have tons of experience. Don't know about Danny, but Gary is a former national champion. In BSP, Tom Berry is a national champ/alien
B. You're up against street-prepared Corvettes. Nuff said
C. You're up against street-prepared Corvettes. Nuff said
D. Your best bet, but if you want to win consistently, you can't count on this.
I don't want to discourage you from trying. We all want to know if the S2000 can be competitive in SP. However, the risk and the cost make it an unwise decision, unless you have money pouring out your ears.

To win consistently is to be in the wrong class, and frankly would get boring. My point is not that the S could win consistently but could compete. Also, nothing you or anyone says would discourage me from trying (although that is the attitude of you and a few others here). There is no "risk and cost" of making an unwise decision because I'm going to do those I/H/E/Tuning mods regardless, the only risk would be the Hoosiers which I intend to have for nationals next year.

I wish you the best of luck in winning ASP at Nats.

Scuttlebutt has it that there are six figure cars running in ASP, but I don't know enough about the cars to say if that's true, or where the money went.

Well, everyone has a lot of good info to sort through. I think for the start I would be out for fun. Later on to be more competitive. I think with some behind the wheel time I con figure out what combo to work with. As far as how much money I plan on putting into the car. Somewhere between 15-30 with only a hood and trunk being cosmetic. That number should give me a start?
