Default ProSolo in a 2004+

Honda beefed up the transmission and differential for the 2004 model. That's good for ProSolo. But they also added that clutch damper thingy, which I activated the first time I made an abrupt shift into 2nd gear.

Does that thing prevent you from doing clutch-drop starts like you'd want to do at a ProSolo?

Annie and I ran our car at a "Practice Pro" locally and I only got three starts before the clutch started slipping.

That said, I apparently don't drop it as hard as others do.....

If you're referring to the clutch delay valve on the slave cylinder, you can change it out with an '03 to limit slippage. Looks like a pretty easy DIY. There's a great writeup about it in under the hood.

Remove the clutch delay valve. It's a mere 10 minute process and will make the car so much more responsive, prolong the life of the clutch, but could cause differential failures if you clutch dump a lot.

I don't think removing the delay valve is legal in AS.

Removing the clutch delay valve or replacing it with one from an earlier car would not be legal.

You might want to PM Bob Klingler ("bkr"?) and ask him -- he's run his car at at least one Pro.

If you ease the clutch out on the 04, you will immediately smell the ugly slip. In ProSolo's, we've learned that you can't afford to think about it; just drop it. Then there's no slippage problem and the 275's never spin too much-- unless the surface is wet.

Thanks Bob! That doesn't sound too bad. 275s! Maybe I will have to get one...
