Default protetability of a camera mount in bs?

I have been using mg racings(i think thats the brand) camera mount this year to record my local runs. my question is for the tour and nationals, is it protestable? i does require the removal of the windscreen(with is not allowed), but it does put in its place something using existing holes. what is the concensus, have you guys done it before, have there been protests, is there a gentlemens agreement. thanks

What year is your car? In '00, the windscreen was optional. Even if it's not an '00, a camera mount is the weeniest of all protests. Unless you cost someone money by beating them, there's little reason for them to protest you. Besides, you'd be pretty sure to win that protest based on C&C.

Yup, payneinthe's right -- it's technically illegal on a non-'00 car, but it would be the lamest protest ever. shaggy and I are running a similar mount on his car at Tours.

Honestly if someone protested you on that at a Tour or Nationals and I was in your class, me and the entire rest of the grid would probably start disassembling his/her car piece by piece, trying to find something to get them back on. They might have a 100% legal car, but I'd try my best to make them take it home in boxes.

Also, I really don't think a national level protest committee would impose a penalty for something like that.

I was wondering the same thing.

Although technically illegal, mine is at least as heavy as the actual windscreen. Add the ,circa '97, analog HandyCam, doorstop of a battery, and microphone and there's three times the weight there. Good to know the general feeling on protesting it....

I thought that any cosmetic or similar mod that does not enchance the performance of the car is allowable. Would the camera mount be classified as a performance device?

You could argue that viewing the tapes of the autocross (to improve skills) is a type of perfomance enchancing device.

But like everyone said above, the rest of the grid would probably pick his car to pieces. I for sure would help raise the money to post the impound bond.

The camera is not a performance enhancing modification. The issue here is removing a permanently fastened part of the car (the wind deflector) in order to mount it. But like everyone is saying- anyone who protests that for that reason alone is a looooooooooser.
