Racing Electronics
I need to buy a communications system for my car and was hoping somebody had experience with a particular system and knew of a good place to get it. The helmet is already wired, I need the car piece and crew headset/radio. I am not sure what is needed for range, but I figure 1.5 miles would be good considering the size of most road courses. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I need to get an AMB transponder - is there somewhere these can be bought online?
TIA-

You can get the transponder directly from AMB:
http://www.amb-it.com/
Also, NASA-VA will rent them on an event-by-event basis.

Thanks for the AMB link - probably more cost effective to buy it.
Also, I settled on a comm system - I got a Motorola CP200-based system with a scanner (so we can monitor corner workers/medical crew). Once we get out for CMP I will post my impressions of the system. The guys at Racing Electronics (www.racingelectronics.com) were very helpful.

A 3rd party is also making an add-in for the Gameboy that provides live feeds as well. Can't find the info right now, however.

www.icardus.com for the gameboy based T&S system. It works well, but is not used everywhere yet. It is in use at all ALMS and SPEED World Challenge events, and it is starting to trickle down into other SCCA Pro series and a fer SCCA club events.
Racing Radios and Racing Electronics are the two big radio companies in the US. I have dealt with both and have nothing but good things to say about either company.
